Iran welcomes joint Arab-Islamic statement condemning Zionist regime’s aggression

Foreign Ministry Spokesman H.E Esmail Baqaei welcomed the joint statement by foreign ministers of 21 Arab and Islamic countries initiated by the Arab Republic of Egypt condemning the Zionist regime’s aggression against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as its gross violation of international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei welcomed the joint statement by foreign ministers of 21 Arab and Islamic countries, initiated by the Arab Republic of Egypt, condemning the Zionist regime’s aggression against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as its gross violation of international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter.

 Baqaei expressed appreciation for Egypt’s initiative and the solidarity shown by Arab and Islamic countries, stating that the contents of the statement reflect a shared regional understanding and deep concern regarding the Zionist regime’s aggression, and signal a collective determination among Islamic and Arab nations to compel the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in stopping the aggression.

 Referring to the statement’s emphasis on the prohibition of attacks on safeguarded nuclear facilities in accordance with relevant IAEA and UN Security Council resolutions, Baqaei described the Israeli regime’s military assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities as a flagrant breach of international law, reiterating Iran’s and the region’s continued demand for a firm response from the IAEA Board of Governors and its Director General in condemning this violation.

 The spokesman also noted that Iran and Egypt are among the founding sponsors of the initiative for a Middle East free of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, and underlined the need for serious international efforts to realize this goal. He stressed that the Zionist regime’s WMD arsenal remains the sole obstacle to this achievement.
